ILPS Philippines Chapter joins world condemnation of US atrocities in Fallujah

ILPS Philippines Chapter joins world condemnation of US atrocities in Fallujah and elsewhere in Iraq

“We are once again marching to the US embassy to protest the continuing and heightening brutality of the Bush regime towards the Iraqi people,” Rita Baua, secretary-general of the ILPS-Philippines Chapter stated at the start of the march towards the US embassy today, April 13, 10:30 a.m.(Manila time).

Baua was referring to the bombing of mosques, firing on vehicles bringing wounded Iraqis to the hospitals, firing of rockets at civilian communities and residential neighborhoods, thereby killing, maiming, or wounding innocent children, elderly, women, especially in Fallujah which is being punished by the US for the killing of four US soldiers.

According to the ILPS Philippines Chapter leader, Fallujah is being sealed, besieged. Reports indicate that 280 Iraqi have been killed and 400 wounded in Fallujah alone, and 460 in the whole country since last week. Furthermore, there is neither supply of water and food

“At the same time, our march to and picketing of the US embassy is our expression of solidarity for the resisting people of Iraq,” Baua continued.

Baua said that the Iraqi people have been confronting the US occupation troops since day one of the US war on Iraq.

Recently, she said, a convoy of Iraqi citizens carrying food and medical supplies for their resistance fighters in Fallujah, forced their way through military check points of the US occupation troops. At the same time, other Iraqis pelted the occupation troops that passed by, indicating the deep seated anger of the people at foreign troops that have killed hundreds of Iraqis and devastated their country.

“The Iraqi resistance is growing day by day. Ranging from street protests of unemployed Iraqis who have lost their jobs because of the war, to demonstrations by the youth against the continuing presence of US troops, to the uprisings occurring in many parts of the country against massive killings and cruelties perpetrated by US soldiers and coalition troops, to guerilla fighting against US’ attempts at domination of their country’s economy(oil) and political life(sovereignty),” Baua said.

Furthermore, Baua added, there has been a growing unity among the broadest ranks of the Iraqi people – Sunnis, Shiites, communists, Kurds, Baathists, Christians, Turkomen, bourgeois nationalists, patriots, to fight US attempts to build a regime that will consist of US puppets who will not work for the interests of the Iraqi people.

Baua stated that their protest action in front of the US embassy will likewise demand for the immediate pull out of US-UK and other coalition troops from Iraq.

“ These soldiers should be sent home to their families and loved ones. Many of them are beginning to question the unjustness of the war and occupation that the Bush regime is inflicting on the hapless people of Iraq. Many of these soldiers are now psychologically incapacitated as a result of this insane war, bringing more harm to the already damaged Iraqis. Furthermore, we are concerned about the families – especially the wives and children of these soldiers who have been separated from one another for more than a year now,” Baua explained.

The Bush regime must be condemned in the strongest words possible for its occupation of Iraq, thus preventing the Iraqi people’s long cherished aspirations to chart their own destiny for their own development and progress; for causing instability and tension not only in the Middle East but throughout the world; for its policy of pre-emptive action against any country fighting for its territorial integrity; and for labeling any anti-imperialist leader or organization as “terrorist”, Baua concluded.

The 75 member-organizations of International League of Peoples’ Struggle – Philippines Chapter, which includes Bayan, have joined mass demonstrations against the US war on Iraq since 2003.

The ILPS Philippines Chapter is a member of the ILPS which was founded in May 25, 2001. It gathered more than 200 mass organizations from 40 countries. It is an anti-imperialist and democratic formation.###

Protests won't affect U.S. actions (corrected)
by Real Blows Needed Tuesday, Apr. 13, 2004 at 4:40 PM

What's needed are actions that materially hurt members and institutions of the U.S. ruling class.

Surely there are many U.S. businesses, etc., in the Philippines that could be the targets of direct actions. The same is true for almost every other country, including the U.S. itself!

If you want to help us, follow Two Simple Principles ...
by Iraqi Resistance Tuesday, Apr. 13, 2004 at 9:39 PM

1. Interrupt the re-supply lines of the US/Imperialist forces into our country, permanently. (US bases are in 130 countries!)

2. Repatriate your own forces / stop them leaving home

We will deal with the Imperialist StormTroopers who are already here in the time-honoured fashion.

Imperialist Adventurers will get a bloody nose in Iraq this year and will go home with their tails between their legs.

Victory to the Resistance, in Iraq and Worldwide
